Make sure the oil you are seeing is comeing from the crankcase breather. Got back, check the oil. When you shift, the hydraulic pressure pops the plugs out. Is the fluid clear or black? If black the pump may be sucking some oil from the motor. I have a 66 mustang 289, with a C4 automatic transmission. It comes down from the breather at the top of the engine, to the right of where you pour oil in. I had a hard time finding the small oil draining hole. The tranny isn't overfilled, that was my first guess, too. Did see that we had an oil leak on the previous head gasket, so I'm thinking that either the head was warped, or gasket was bad. The SpeedForm Chrome Oil Fill Breather would not allow for a functioning PCV system, as the PCV relies on positive crankcase pressure, which you will use when using a breather. After driving the car, I notice evidence of droplets of tranny fluid out of the breather tube and more droplets on transmission cross member, plus a light coating on the undercarriage. Now, because the tube is small and capped on the top (a restrictor cap at that), and it is the only vent, the oil won't drain back down the tube. , Auto Lover, Future Educator, Die Hard Patriot. I am new to the whole boating scene and have some experience with cars but I'm not sure were to look and what steps I should take, any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. If the PCV is plugged the cavity will fill up and overflows out of the breather pipe. I also rechecked the oil level in the light (usually it's dark when I check it). Also, isn't my transmission damaged if it had water for ~ 6 months?. If the pressure builds too high, it can cause gaskets and seals to blow causing oil leaks. If the oil has exceeded the Max limit, the oil will spill out of the breather due to the centrifugal forces of gears rotating at high speeds. It is "burping" about a half cup of fluid out of the dip stick tube each time put it in park and turn off the motor. Oil Viscosity. Filter: All of that fluid has to be clean for your car to shift gears at the right time. 0 V-8 engines. in any case it sounds like you may have over filled the trans. Fluid came out dipstick tube. Hurlimann XT 909 2002 Putting water into oil coming out through breather Pipe Hi I have Hurlimann XT909 Tractor 2002 Same Engine with water getting into oil which comes out through breather pipe. If it shows air bubbles it may be the suction line between the res and pump. Make sure sumping has stopped out of the breather hose and cap off oil system when m/c has warmed up. My understanding is there's a check valve in the oil pump that doesn't seal properly and it pumps to much oil up top where the vent is.
